Interview with Natalie Noelle Chan.
a printmaker and performance artist based in Hong Kong.
This interview was done for @soraxstudio
How has nat’s life experience influenced her art journey?
/ “There are so many art out there already.” Despite the fact that Nat tries to keep her life and art on separate pages, she couldn’t help but feel the pain and despair from the people who are suffering from climate disasters. The idea of Ecofeminism and the platform it provides has strengthened Nat’s art direction in recent years.

/ In terms of music and writing, Nat has found most inspiration from the relationships she has with herself, and with other people. “I think Amy Winehouse has influenced me a lot, in terms of my writings.” Nat couldn’t love anything more than jazz, she loves incorporating juxtaposition to create interesting punchlines

/ ‘The frequency coming out from your throat is so powerful in terms of emotional content and that’s what makes music so different from any other art form’

Natalie finds herself expressing her emotions best with music, especially Jazz music. She wants to make pieces  inspired by her own romantic and growing up experiences. Natalie is also working along with Howard Mccrary, her singing teacher, (one of the most important people in her life as claimed by Nat), trying to produce an album by the end of 2022.
